ACCOMMODATIONS & DIRECTIONS

Greetings! Four rooms are available in the beautiful Brackett House, a bed and breakfast which is a Historic Guest House on the Cornell College Campus. Please visit http://www.cornellcollege.edu/brackett/ to see these lovely accommodations.

Rooms will be assigned on first-come-first-serve basis. The Guest House will hold all four of its rooms until July 1 ONLY. We must have your paid registration by this date to secure a room for you at this Guest House.

Specific room assignments: When you arrive at Brackett House, walk in the front door and look on the shelf at the bottom of the staircase. You'll find an envelope with your name on it, your room assignment, and a key. Your room is upstairs.

Breakfast
The housing rate includes a light breakfast at Brackett House (things like English muffins, toast, raisin bran, granola, tea, coffee, orange juice & fruit). Other meals are on your own in area restaurants. There will be many opportunities to have meals together as a group.

WHAT TO BRING

1. music stand
2. dress for two informal concerts (yours)
3. dress for hot/humid weather. Classroom space, however, is air conditioned.
4. enough repertory for a 20-30 minute performance for public concerts
5. your duo's promotional materials (if any) -- to share marketing.
6. musical scores and recordings you might like to share/explore in informal afternoon sessions.

TRAVEL INSTRUCTIONS:
If you are flying, select CID (Cedar Rapids/Iowa City airport --- also known as the Eastern Iowa airport). Cornell College, the festival site, is located at 217 First Ave. North, Mt. Vernon, IA. It is about 20 minutes East of the airport (or approx. 22 miles). To get to Cornell College from the airport, call Airport Shuttle Service 1-800-725-8460 or 319/365-0655 and make a reservation (do this before you leave home). Fare is about $30 one way...but check to see if there has been a fare change since this website was designed. To learn about Cornell College, go to www.cornellcollege.edu.

If you are driving, come to Eastern Iowa via Interstate 80. Turn North on Interstate 380. In Cedar Rapids, exit Interstate 380 at the Highway 30 exit and travel EAST on Highway 30 to the town of Mt. Vernon. Turn left (North) at the 4-way stop sign at the intersection of Highway 30 and Highway One. Once in town, at the stoplight at the top of the hill, turn left (West) onto First Street. Soon you'll spot Cornell College on your left. Turn left (South) on 5th Avenue, go up the hill one block, and turn left on 2nd Street. Brackett House is on the corner of 2nd Street and 5th Avenue...the address is 418 Second Street, Mt. Vernon 52314. Free off-street parking is available in a lot on the premises.
