Recent Events

The Last Quintet

Red Cedar Chamber Music presents The Last Quintet, featuring Schubert’s grand string quintet. Core ensemble members and directors Miera Kim (violin) and Carey Bostian (cello) will be once again joined by their sons Oliver (viola) and Adrian (cello), as well as the incredible emerging artist Katya Moeller, a 16-year-old violinist with an already astonishing resume as a concert artist.

Schubert’s string quintet is one of the most iconic string chamber music works. Scored for 2 violins, a viola, and 2 cellos, and published posthumously, the work is over 50 minutes long and contains some of the most exquisite music ever written. The addition of an extra cello to the string quartet allows for great variety of instrument pairings and colors not possible in a standard string quartet. The work is in 4 movements and composed on a grand scale.
